About

I Want More Fish is a short-film company formed in Sweden in 2019 — the brainchild of writer and actress Emma A. Gould. Originally from the UK and now based in Croatia, Gould founded the company as an outlet for creative work circling a single set of themes: hidden thoughts, mental health, and the quiet interior of a life.

The films are small, emotionally raw, and built around an honest feeling rather than a plot. A guiding principle is a commitment to local talent — the early films were made with Swedish crews, and the company now works with Croatian crews on home ground. Gould is a committed mental-health advocate, and that conviction runs quietly through the work.

Its first film, Distortion (2020), won Best Actress and Best Director honours across the festival circuit; Suburbia (2021) followed, gathering further awards for its direction and its performances. A third film, Almost Someday, is now in pre-production.

The company stays close to its founding instinct — that the most exposing thing a film can do is tell the truth about an inner life.

Emma A. Gould

Born in Birmingham in 1987 and raised in Manchester, she is a writer, director and actress. At school she gravitated to drama and theatre studies, English and art — a grounding in performance and language that still shapes her films.

In 2010 she met her husband, Jason; they married in 2015 and moved to Sweden to begin a new life, and it was there that I Want More Fish was born. She now lives in Zagreb, Croatia, with Jason and their four cats.
